Wearing a corset is a great way for women to get a curvy figure with a tiny waist. Wearing a corset is not as easy as simply buying one. Corset wearing can be surprisingly very comfortable, but only if the wearer takes the right steps to break the corset in. When brand new, steel boned corsets are very stiff. They need to be broken in in order to fit the wearer correctly. The breaking in period allows the steel bones to soften and mold to fit the wearer’s body perfectly. The process is not complicated, but it does take patience. Your corset will fit like a glove and hug all your curves once currectly seasoned.
Steps To Breaking In A Corset
Put on your corset, but you should not lace it up as tight as it will go the first few times you wear it. (See our blog on How to Put on & Lace Up a Corset By Yourself ).
The corset will be stiff and there will be gaps in certain places, but this is okay. After 30 to 45 minutes, you may tighten the corset slightly, but she should still not tighten it as tight as it will go at this point. This will allow the corset time to adjust to her body and her body time to adjust to the corset.
The wearer should only wear the corset for an hour or two before taking it back off, and she should never sleep in it right away. Instead, she should be patient and let the corset mold to her exact body shape. This usually takes a few days, though women who want to eventually be able to wear their corsets for several hours at a time may want to take as long as 10 to 14 days to break their corsets in for maximum comfort.
Reasons To Break-In A Corset
There are very good reasons why women should take the time to break in their corsets properly. Tightening a corset too soon can cause damage to the corset or to the body of the woman wearing it. The corset’s laces may snap or its grommets may tear. The corset’s material could stretch and become damaged, or the steel boning could warp, causing the wearer pain. Not only do these damages cause pain to the wearer, but they are usually difficult to fix, if they are able to be fixed at all. A corset that is properly broken in and taken care of, however, should fit comfortably and last a lifetime.
